Ingredients

  • 1 lb green beans fresh, trimmed
  • 0.33 cup water
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 0.25 tsp kosher salt
  • 0.13 tsp black pepper
  • 0.33 cup Parmesan cheese finely grated

Equipment

  • 1 12-inch skillet

Method

  1. Add the green beans and water to a 12-inch skillet and cover. Cook over medium-high heat for 5 to 7 minutes, until the beans are crisp-tender.
  2. Remove the lid and cook, stirring occasionally, until the water evaporates, about 1 minute. Add the butter and garlic and cook, stirring, for 30 seconds, until fragrant.
  3. Remove the skillet from the heat, then toss the beans with the salt, pepper, and Parmesan until evenly coated.

Notes

For the best texture, stop cooking once the beans are crisp-tender. Refrigerate leftovers in an airtight container for 3 to 4 days; freezing is not recommended. For a dairy-free option, use dairy-free butter and Parmesan-style cheese.
